| Modul8 rack up another million |
|
Aberdeen based shelving and racking supplier, Modul8 has reached another milestone in the company’s short history. With still 3 months to go before their year end, Modul8 have hit the magic £1million turnover mark for 2004/05, bringing their total turnover to £2million since they were launched in August 2003. The company is currently expanding its business outside of Aberdeen and the contract that tipped the £2million is from a company in Elgin, N.E. Scotland G&A Barney for a £2,000 partitioning job.
Andy Davie, General Manager at Modul8 is delighted, “To have seen the company grow so quickly over the last 20 months has been very exciting. We formed Modul8 in August 2003 with just 3 staff as we spotted a gap in the market in the North of Scotland for a company providing tailored solutions to shelving and racking. A natural progression was to provide partitions and we are now the main supplier for Dexion who are a well respected manufacturer in this field and this gives us an edge over our competitors. Modul8 works with a large variety of clients from supplying direct to company’s to working with main contractors to complete larger projects. Within the last 3 months Modul8 has won contracts with Mansell, Chap Construction, Wood Group, for Trafalgar House, and provision of a canteen and stores facility for Hydratight Sweeney. The range of products has been increasing with the turnover and client list and one of the newest products available is the Infinity partitioning range from Apton, of whom Modul8 are an exclusive supplier in the North of Scotland. Barratts in Nairn has been one of the first customers to use this partitioning system which has a revolutionary “Nebula-Hesion” joint making it neater and easier to install and remove, giving extra flexibility to clients who have fast changing work environments. The product is also fully glazed giving it superior aesthetic appeal, which is extremely important in showrooms and other retail settings. Andy explains the reason why designers are choosing this type of product. “Glass partitioning is becoming more common within commercial interiors as designers aim to achieve light and spacious interiors, but with cellular offices and storage required this is sometimes difficult to realise. Glazed partitions bring interest, allow flow of light and design while also providing privacy where required and we have recently installed them for a number of clients, including Chess Group plc at their Bishop House headquarters and Munro’s Travel Group new offices on Union Street.” Another development within the business is the provision of rack inspections. Modul8 employ a licensed rack inspector who performs SEMA approved Health & Safety checks in line with current legislation. Andy explains why these are important, “Following a number of incidents where racking had been overloaded, leading to collapse of shelving and injuries, the legislation on racking was tightened to ensure that companies display appropriate loading notices for their racking. Our inspectors will check the safety and stability of current racks and ensure that loading notices are displayed and being adhered to. We can also recommend repairs and implement racking management programmes to ensure safety on a long-term basis. Halliburton, ASCO, Aberness and SBS Logistics are all already taking advantage of this service.” |
